Love Languages

How we give and receive love can make or break a relationship. If you feel most loved when someone puts it into words, while your partner shows it by quietly fixing things, you will both keep offering care that does not land. This assessment names the signals that register for you, and the ones you keep sending that may not register for them.

What it is

Thirty forced-choice pairs, about five minutes, drawn from the framework Dr. Gary Chapman popularised. Each pair asks which of two good things means more to you, so the answer that flatters you does not stand out. Your result is a ranking across five ways of expressing care: words of affirmation, quality time, physical touch, acts of service, and receiving gifts.

Why take it

Because most people give love in the language they want to receive it, then wonder why it does not seem to count. The partner who spends Saturday repairing your car and the partner who says “I am proud of you” may be making the same size gesture; if it arrives in a language you do not read, it registers as nothing. Long stretches of feeling unappreciated are often not an absence of care; they are care in the wrong currency.

The awareness you gain

You learn which signals actually reach you, which explains why some gestures land and others slide off. You also learn what you default to giving, which is usually your own language rather than theirs. That gap is the useful part: it turns a vague sense of being unseen into something specific enough to ask for, and it gives you a concrete way to show up for someone whose language differs from yours.

What it feeds

Love Languages sits on the Relationships path and adds a layer to your profile that the other relational instruments do not reach. Attachment Style explains why closeness and distance feel the way they do; Communication Style explains how your words land. Love Languages explains which expressions of care you actually feel. Together they inform your Romantic Relationship insights and the guidance the Communications Coach offers on messages to the people closest to you.
