Built on Trust:

Your Privacy, Our Priority
Confidentiality at the Core of Sparks

How Sparks Protects Your Confidentiality

Sparks is committed to revolutionizing mental health support while ensuring that your privacy remains uncompromised. We understand that trust is the foundation of every therapeutic journey, and that’s why Sparks has been meticulously designed with confidentiality at its core. Here’s how we safeguard your personal information while empowering your mental health journey:

We begin by creating your unique In-App Persona

When you sign up for Sparks, instead of linking your activity to your email address, we enable you to create an in-app persona. This identity remains completely disconnected from your email and other external identifiers. This helps ensure that your engagement within the platform is private, secure, and solely focused on your well-being.

If you joined the platform via your organization’s benefits program, your organization will know that a member joined, but not who. This is because when you create your in-app persona you become disassociated from your email. All we know is that “Sk8ter12” is a user. You will have an option later on to add an email of your choice later in the setup process. This can be any email you want, or you can leave it blank.

Our app will also collect information to help our system learn about you; we will ask you questions such as your age, gender, date of birth, etc. All this information gets stored in an encrypted database. Any answers you provide to in-app questions are stored in a separate, secure, and encrypted database. We use Amazon’s HIPAA-compliant servers, as do most medical services companies. HIPAA compliance and encryption are key steps, but not the only steps we will take. In these ways, we are creating multiple layers of dissociation between the real world you, and your data. We have put together a detailed privacy policy, available through a link in the footer of the page, but if you have any concerns, please email us.

Encrypted Data Storage for Maximum Security

As mentioned above, every response you provide within the Sparks platform is stored in an encrypted database designed to protect your data from unauthorized access. Our system prevents any connection between your responses and your personal identity. This means that while your engagement drives powerful insights for mental health advancements, your privacy is never compromised.

Scores, Not Responses: Extra Layers of Protection

At Sparks, we go beyond encryption to further isolate your data. While you may engage with questions and exercises in the app, only your scores and not your specific responses are used within the platform. This ensures that even the data processed within Sparks remains non-identifiable and completely detached from you as an individual.

Will people try to hack the system? Unfortunately, yes, and cybersecurity is a constant and ongoing challenge. We are here trying to help people, and we will continue to take every step possible to safeguard your security.

Big Data Analytics with Rigorous Safeguards

Sparks leverages big data analytics to refine its offerings and deliver optimal user outcomes. But we do so in ways that still affords privacy. For instance, group analyses and reporting are only conducted when there is a minimum of twenty individuals in any data set. This rule ensures that no individual’s data can be isolated or pinpointed within smaller groupings, further protecting your confidentiality.

Why Confidentiality Matters

Mental health is a personal journey, and the confidence to share and engage openly is vital for achieving meaningful progress. Sparks was built to provide a space where users can feel completely secure in their interactions, knowing that their data is protected every step of the way.

A Platform You Can Trust

By combining cutting-edge encryption technologies, anonymous in-app personas, and stringent data safeguards, we have created an environment where privacy and confidentiality are paramount. Whether you are exploring therapeutic content, responding to questions, or benefiting from data-driven insights, your privacy remains inviolable.

It’s your data, not ours

We don’t sell your data. Period.

We will invite trained, mental health professionals to collaborate with us on research based on the global trends and patterns that emerge. But they will not get to see individual responses or any data relating to who answered which questions.

Therapists and mental health professionals who create the courses you have access to will be able to see a report that shows them how many people took the courses, and if people responded positively or negatively to the content. They will be able to see these results based on gender, age, and potentially other broad factors so that they can better optimize the content for future listeners based on demographic profiles. If we learn that 17-24 year old women respond more positively to version A of a session, and men to version B, the system will adapt accordingly.

At some point we envison making it possible for you to share the information you control with your therapist, but this is not yet available at this time.
